Admissions
How Do I Register for Credit Classes?
Visit Prospective Students for more new and transfer student information.
I am a New Student |
|
I am entering college for the first time.
- Meet with an academic advisor to complete an Admissions Application.
He or she will help you obtain your student ID number and direct you
to the COMPASS testing lab.
- Take the COMPASS placement
test (dates
and times).
The test takes approximately three hours to complete and is required of
all students entering college for the first time. After testing, students will
receive information on when to meet with an academic advisor to
discuss their scores, develop an academic plan, and register for classes.
For more information on COMPASS testing see page 11, or visit the
Prospective Students page at prairiestate.edu. Contact Counseling and
Academic Advising at (708) 709-3506 if you have any questions.
*Please note: ACT scores may be used in place of COMPASS. An ACT
score of 22+ in reading and a 17+ in English places a student directly
into English 101. An ACT reading score of 22+ exempts a student from
having to take the COMPASS reading test. Math ACT placement is
determined by a student’s academic program. Students should meet
with an academic advisor for further information.
- Meet with your academic advisor to discuss your COMPASS
test results, learn about your academic program and register for classes.
Request that your high school send an official final transcript to the Office
of Admissions and Enrollment Services at Prairie State College.
- Pay your tuition and fees.
Please note that registration is not complete until you have made payment
arrangements either online (e-cashier) or through the Business Office,
or have received official notification that you have completed all the
steps of the financial aid process. If you were asked to submit additional
forms to the Financial Aid Office please complete these steps and verify
that your award is finalized for registration.
- Attend New Student Orientationwhen they become available.
Fill out form online. Check back.
