- Complete an application to get started with the enrollment process.
You can obtain an application from Enrollment Services or the Counseling and Academic Advising Center at Prairie State College. You can also complete an application form online.
- Take the COMPASS placement test.
The purpose of assessment testing is to place you in the courses most appropriate to your academic ability. You will not be denied admission to Prairie State College on your assessment scores; however, you may need to enroll in courses to prepare for higher level courses. For more information visit, the COMPASS section of the Web site.
- Meet with an academic advisor to discuss COMPASS test results, learn about academic programs, and register for courses.
Request that your high school and/or previously attended college send official, final transcripts to Enrollment Services at Prairie State College. For more effective advising, it is strongly recommended that the transcripts arrive prior to meeting with an academic advisor.
- Pay tuition and fees.
Please note that registration is not complete until you have made payment arrangements either online or through the Business Office, or have received official notification that you have completed all the steps of the financial aid process. If you were asked to submit additional forms to the Financial Aid Office, please complete those steps and verify that your award is finalized for registration.
- Attend New Student Orientation.
New student orientation is only offered for students entering Prairie State College for the fall semester and for those who have never attended college before. For more information, call the Counseling and Academic Advising Center at (708) 709-7808 or e-mail Michael Watkins.
