Illinois Employment Training Center (IETC)

The purpose of the Illinois Employment Training Center is to provide employment support services to help customers become employable and self-sufficient. The Illinois Employment Training Center, commonly called IETC, is funded through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) signed into law on August 7, 1998.

At the Prairie State IETC, the following services are provided:

  • Orientation about the WIA law, available services, eligibility requirements and resource referrals. Call 708/709-3911 for next available Orientation date and time.
  • Career Inventory, skills evaluation and testing to determine basic skills. Testing is usually done on Tuesday; must have completedOrientation.
  • Career Development Workshop, e.g., interviewing skills coaching and resume assistance. Career Development Workshop: Wednesday through Friday - must have completed Orientation and testing
  • Access to the Internet (computer lab), fax machine and telephone to call employers.
  • Assistance in applying for funds for approved training opportunities of clients' choice (either at PSC or other approved training providers' facilities: visit www.ilworkforce.org). Training funds approved by the Cook County President's Office of Employment Training
  • Referrals to supportive services as needed.
  • Follow-up services to help improve workplace productivity.
  • Resource Room with materials available to promote adequate job search and career exploration.
